Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Located in an urban neighborhood of San Francisco, my elementary school is a bilingual school, home to predominately immigrant families of low income and color. We have a vibrant community and neighborhood but lack the funds to create a school setting to match the hearts of our students. We are a school striving for academic excellence, respect for diversity, and strength in character and personal growth. We hold high expectations for all student - a !si se puede! attitude.
We have the spirit and passion for learning but need help supplying our students materials for learning.
We are looking to you to help us fill these gaps.
My Project
We are looking for a donations to bring games to our first-grade class. We hope to receive puzzles, blocks, puppets, and games. After our day of learning and working hard our class gets "Choice Time". During this part of the day, students can play and explore together. It is a critical time that teaching students about their own interests and how to interact with others.
The blocks would make a super addition to our class and give students a chance to explore building, creating bridges and structures.
The puzzles are for both academic study as we learn about seasons and animals, but also help children see different families and how we are both alike and different. The puppets and games are also so that we can learn how to play together engaging in positive activities.
