These new materials have given students the chance to have engaging hands-on experiences that encourage critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and team building! As our students use materials like the marble run, magna tiles, legos, chess sets, origami books and materials, puzzles, and snap circuits their language and conversations have become richer and they see themselves as critical thinkers and problem solvers. All of these materials allow students to become engineers, project planners, builders, mathematicians, leaders, makers, and inventors. I have thoroughly enjoyed giving student design challenges and have observed how students develop team roles and improve their negotiating skills!\r\nSome of our stem challenges include building elaborate structures, and towers using the marble run pieces, and magnatiles. I have challenged students to compare and contrast building habitats for humans vs animal habitats. Students are learning about scientific concepts like push-pull factors, slopes, velocity, gravity, kinetic energy, momentum and friction. Students like to create their own design challenges now too!\r\n\tLastly I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to pair books and texts to inspire students to continue their STEM projects and creations in our library. Using these low prep STEM materials has really encouraged students to check out more books with STEM themes. The students are having so much fun and they are learning so much just by playing. We introduced the materials slowly and today was the day we brought out the last activity, which kind of brought it all together. The students were so engaged, and they had a chance to negotiate turn-taking and sharing space, along with practicing fine motor skills, letter knowledge, and properties of physics! It was so great to see all of that happening at once. \r\nWe have a special water table that has two bins and the water can flow from one bin to the other, and then students refill the top bin. We used the four water pumps at the top, and then we put boats, scoops, and letter fish at the bottom and students were able to fish for the letters. Some were excited to find the letters in their names and their friends' names, while others asked me every time they got a letter, \"Teacher, what letter is this?\" They used the timers to take turns with the fishing rods, and they also had to be aware of when they were taking too many fish out, to toss them back in. The students with the pumps had to be aware of the water levels and refill their bin when it got too low, and also had to aim the pumps carefully so the water wouldn't splash out of the table or get their friends wet. It was a beautiful scene of cooperation and engaged learning. We look forward to many more days of these interactions and exploration. Rather than spending their points immediately on smaller items, many students are now choosing to save up for more desirable prizes. They're thinking long-term, setting personal goals, and working harder each day—not just for the sake of a reward, but for the satisfaction of earning something meaningful through consistent effort.\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials at the beginning of the school year, their eyes lit up with excitement. Your thoughtful contribution has already begun to make a meaningful impact on our classroom, and I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for helping support our learning environment in such a powerful way.\r\n\r\nYour donation of writing notebooks has given each of my students a fresh space to express their thoughts, strengthen their writing skills, and develop confidence in their voice. There's something special about opening a brand-new notebook—crisp pages, clean lines, and infinite potential. For many of our students, this is their first time having a personal notebook dedicated solely to writing, and it's been incredibly inspiring to watch their enthusiasm grow each day as they write stories, reflect on their learning, and practice sentence structure and grammar.\r\n\r\nThe math number lines you provided are now a daily part of our math instruction. These tools help our students visualize numbers, understand sequencing, and solve addition and subtraction problems with greater confidence. Having physical number lines available for each child has transformed abstract math concepts into hands-on learning experiences. The progress we've seen in their number sense and fluency has been remarkable—and your donation has been instrumental in making that possible.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic tiles have opened the door to creative exploration in both math and science. Whether students are building patterns, experimenting with geometry, or working collaboratively on STEM challenges, the tiles spark curiosity and foster teamwork. They've become a favorite activity during both structured lessons and free exploration time. Your gift has not only enriched our curriculum but has also brought joy and excitement to our classroom.\r\n\r\nIn a time when many schools face limited resources, your support makes all the difference. It sends a powerful message to our students—that there are people who believe in their potential and are willing to invest in their education. That belief goes a long way in building their self-worth and motivation to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness, generosity, and commitment to education. Because of your donation, our classroom is a more engaging, equitable, and inspiring place to learn.
