These items will be used for our positive reinforcement reward system where students earn points to use rewards and prizes in our special education class. Students earn points by following classroom norms and routines, persevering through challenging academic tasks, and by using pre-taught behavior skills and strategies for self regulation, interpersonal interactions and staying on task! This system helps students to set long term goals for themselves in a way that is accessible and achievable. Each of these rewards has been chosen by the students themselves giving them ownership of their own reward plans. My students have been really motivated by this reward system this school year, and they are so proud of their progress when they earn points! It has been a great way to get students excited about being in a school environment after two years of distance learning and learning loss. My reward system helps my students feel confident and successful even though our work in class is rigorous!
