The students at WA are a wonderful group of children who come from near and far to attend our Charter School. Our students are a diverse group from many different types of cultures, which gives our school a well rounded student body. Since the school opened last year, more classes and an additional grade level have been added to meet the demands of eager families wanting to be a part of the excellence that is WA. As the Art teacher, I work with all of the grade levels, Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. Throughout the school year, each grade level will work on age appropriate but also exciting art projects. We have so many talented children and I can’t wait to watch their creativity flow!
I want to make art come alive for all of our students by giving them a chance to use many different materials for their projects. Our school has a lot of empty walls, or as I see them, blank canvases! I plan to fill them with lots of student based murals, some with class projects and others with whole school projects.
I want to transform the way students think about art and open up their creative sides by using various materials including clay, paper, cardboard, and metal.
Art should be about allowing your mind to flow freely and to capture those thoughts on material. With your help, I can make those ideas come alive!
