This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In the aftermath of the pandemic, many of my students are carrying an unusual amount of stress, grief, and trauma. The impact on their daily lives has been profound. In an effort to minimize these emotions within our classroom, I have established a calm-down corner. Initially, we opted for ottomans and bean bags to create a cozy yet calming atmosphere.

However, as this space is consistently used throughout the day, our ottomans and bean bags, while great for occasional use, are now showing significant wear and tear just a few months later.

Despite this, I am determined to continue providing this calming space because of the tremendous benefits my students have experienced.

To sustain and enhance this area, we are reaching out for support to acquire more stable chairs and seating that can endure the demands of daily use without sacrificing comfort. Your contribution will play a vital role in maintaining a supportive environment for our students, assisting in keeping anxiety levels down and offering a reliable sanctuary for them to recharge and focus.

Join us in making this space not only functional but also long-lasting, contributing to the overall well-being and success of our students.
