My students need over 60 new books, including "The Help," "Ape House," The Border Trilogy, and many more. The students are all voracious readers and I can't keep up with the demand.

My Students

The students at my high school are voracious readers. They have become bored with our collection and are desperate for new books to read. These books would introduce the students to new authors and new adventures.

I am in an urban location in Illinois.

The student population is very diverse, but very welcoming. We are a magnet school which means we pull in students from the neighborhood as well as selective enrollment for highly advanced students. The school has one of the top International Baccalaureate (IB) programs in the state.

My Project

I am requesting over 50 new hardcover books to add to the school's library. Last week two English classes came into the library and every student checked out a book. As a result my shelves are slightly bare while I wait for the books to be returned. I love having the students check out books and enjoy literature. I just wish I had more resources for the students.

This project is important because the students want to read and I need the resources to continue the love and passion of reading.

As students get older they fall away from reading for pleasure and I want to maintain that love and desire for the printed word.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
