Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year I work with students ranging from preschool to 5th grade that need support in the areas of speech and language, including articulation, expressive language, receptive language, fluency, and pragmatics.

This project will help me create, organize and use speech therapy materials that will be used to target my students' individualized communication goals.

This year, I've put great effort into finding and making materials that will keep my students motivated while also learning and targeting their goals. I find that when I make materials such as interactive books, communication boards, story manipulatives, visuals, my students are more engaged with our lessons. I like to laminate my projects, and keep materials in mesh pouches so that they can be used for years to come. I will also use the felt board during small group and whole group lessons that involve story or song manipulatives and visuals. The CVC magnetic items will be used for my younger students working on their early developing sounds. Many of my older students are working on language skills such as following complex directions, sentence building, sequencing, describing, and problem solving. The Spark cards and MagneTalk Match-Up will be perfect for this!

I share a small room with another speech language pathologist and we are short on storage space, so we will use the rolling drawer to keep our most used materials and help with planning for the week.
