This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class loves reading. We start the day off with reading from chapter books or short stories. We love reading in our classroom library. By the end of the year we hope to be strong readers and prepared to take on 3rd grade reading. We know that books are the key to becoming the best learners!

Our students are hard working and come from all different backgrounds.

We have many ELL students as well. We are a low economic school, and we have most students on free and reduced lunch. Our school is focusing on adapting the new California standards called the Common Core. We are focused on having our students do more projects based lessons, working in groups, and learning from one another.

My Project

We are growing as strong readers and are preparing ourselves for 3rd grade. Chapter books will helps us with our reading and our comprehension. Chapter books are what we need to get to the next step of reading and learning. We will be learning about characters, setting, and plot. We will be able to create and learn from these stories. I want my students to not only improve their reading skills, but to enjoy reading.

This project will improve our classroom by helping my students become exceptional readers, and prepare them for success.

It will give them access to more advanced reading, which will prepare them for 3rd grade and beyond.
