My students inspire me every day. I teach special education English at a small arts school in West Baltimore where students are given the chance to focus on the art of their choice from middle to high school--and the arts are where many of them excel.
Although our school has limited resources and many of my students face challenges outside of our walls, they never let those challenges deter them from accomplishing their goals.
Due to the deficit of resources in Baltimore City, many of my students are looking for additional activities that they can participate in after school. My students are motivated and excited to learn new things--they only need to be provided access to them.
When we initially began to raise money for our baseball team, we received an overwhelming amount of support for the project from people who were willing to donate. Thanks to their support we have additional funds to spend on items that we otherwise would have had to cover by ourselves, including uniform hats, and an additional baseball bat for the team.
Thanks to the support of the Donors Choose community, we want to take full advantage of the opportunities we have been provided to give our students the baseball experience they deserve.
Getting a baseball team started requires significant initial startup costs--particularly in the community where we operate.
Through Donors choose, we hope to take some of that burden off of our students and coaches. We are asking for bats and caps.
