Because of your donation, students are able to bridge their writing gaps and use easy, accessible tools for education purposes. In my class, we start with a \"bell ringer,\" also known as a warm-up. This bell ringer is a \"This or That\" opinion writing task in which students must write their opinion. Some of the limitations/barriers included students not being able to recall specific letters (letter formations), writing complete sentences, and spelling of unknown words. The speech-to-text devices allow students to verbalize their answers prior to writing or use the tool to check the spelling of a word, right at their finger tips. These tools have not only minimized a barrier, but also motivated students to write because they enjoy using the tools. The completion of bell ringers has increased and the writing gap has decreased. Students are becoming more confident in their letter formations, sentence writing, and spelling. In that our classrooms are filled with 37 not-so-little bodies, one front board for science is insufficient to display all work needed for the two disciplines.
