Having a Rock and Mineral test kit at home during our Rock and Mineral unit in science class during virtual learning will not only support student excitement about STEM, but will also support student engagement. This kit will allow students to make hands-on observations, complete sorting and identification activities, conduct experiments using the scientific method, and overall, promote scientific inquiry. This kit includes rocks and minerals that relate to the Properties and Formation of minerals, and the rocks identified in the Rock Cycle. This kit will also allow students to participate in a School-Wide Lab Day, in which they create a mineral. Additionally, I would like to provide students with a small collection of rocks, minerals, and fossils. Fossils will be used for our next unit!
