I am trying to get a baseball team started at our school, ConneXions, which is a small arts school in West Baltimore. Baseball is a sport that has a high access point. For that reason, many of my students have never before been able to play on a baseball team. Despite their never having played before, when I approached my students about the idea of starting a baseball team they were as excited as I've ever seen them. That excitement quickly turned to nervous questions of whether they would have to buy their own gloves, jerseys, bats, or uniforms. Through other resources, we have been able to provide students with gloves, jerseys, and other baseball gear, but we need a little bit more help with some essential practice and game equipment. Funding this project would allow us to provide our students with the access that they deserve.
