I have the wonderful opportunity to work with terrific students and staff at a high school. I work with students doing interventions and re-teaching lesson so that students may get a full understanding in a smaller setting. When time allows I help my students with job applications skills as well. Our school district serves an amazing diverse population of students who come from a variety of circumstances. We serve a population of students who a majority (85%) qualify for free lunch program due to lack of income.
My classroom serves students 9-12th grades who want to be here in school because it's a safe space to be.
Together we strive for greatness through working for a common goal of success. As Will Smith says "Greatness exits in all of us.” While some of my students have challenging circumstances I encourage them to set goals for themselves and be accountable. Many of the goals my students hold most important is getting a job and stability. Providing hygiene products will get them started in the right foot.
My Project
Our project’s main focus is to create a hygiene program for students who are in need of basic products, like laundry soap, toothpaste, body wash, etc..Few things are more important than hygiene. Hygiene plays a key role in how you feel about yourself and is often tied to school performance. Maintaining good personal hygiene includes bathing, washing your hands, brushing your teeth and wearing clean clothing. Our project aims to help students whose families don’t have access to the ability to pay for toiletries. The need is great and the resources are few. These resources will help restock our pantry.
