Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every Friday morning, our students become the voices of our school. They write announcements, practice public speaking, operate cameras, manage audio, and produce a live broadcast that keeps our campus informed and connected.

Our Broadcast Club teaches much more than reading the morning news.

Students develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and technology skills while gaining hands-on experience with digital media production.

Our biggest challenge is our technology. We currently rely on an old personal laptop that struggles to run OBS Studio alongside our Maono audio mixer. The result is lagging, freezing, delayed audio, and occasional crashes that interrupt our broadcasts and take valuable time away from learning.

Although our district provides laptops, security restrictions prevent us from installing and using the software needed to operate our broadcasting equipment. Because of these limitations, we need a dedicated laptop for our student news program.

A new laptop will allow students to produce reliable, high-quality live broadcasts while learning industry-standard technology. Instead of troubleshooting outdated equipment, they can focus on creating meaningful content, building confidence, and developing skills that will benefit them long after elementary school.

This laptop will serve as the heart of our student-run broadcast studio for years to come, helping students share school news, celebrate achievements, and strengthen our school community.
