My students need their own individual clipboard to work on during the various science experiments and lab activities we do daily.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom does not look like your typical science classroom. It looks more like a science summer camp, which is exactly what my goal is! My students learn science through experiencing it. This continuous hands-on approach helps my students cement their learning and have a lot of fun.
My students are 8th grade science students in a Title 1 school, with an extremely diverse population.
Students at our school are traditionally apathetic so it takes a very non-traditional teaching approach to get them engaged and learning. My students thrive in an environment like the one I provide, because they are so busy experiencing real-life science and having so much fun that the learning sneaks up on them. At the end of the lesson, they are often shocked that they learned so much!
My Project
In my science class we do experiments and lab activities that require students to move throughout the classroom, school, and outside frequently. Typically in a week, we do 3-4 of these types of activities. Currently my students tote around their large binders or a book to write on when completing these activities. This is cumbersome because it is heavy, and also does not alleviate their papers blowing away when we are doing outside activities.
These clipboards will give them a hard, yet light weight, surface to write on and a way to keep their papers from blowing away.
These clipboards will make transitions throughout our activities much quicker since students will not have to pack up their binder to carry or locate a book.
