My students need easy browsing, well-organized bookshelves for our kindergarten classroom.
This project expired on September 24, 2015.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students often say to me, "Sr. M, I can't find the book I want!" I have my books organized on regular book shelves, but sometimes it can be difficult for students who aren't reading yet to pick a book by just looking at the spine. They need a system that allows them to see the cover!
My students are a diverse group of children with a wide range of interests.
First and foremost, they LOVE TO READ! From day one in my classroom students learn that books are gateways into other worlds. They are the root of all learning and are the most precious resource we have. We learn how to take care of our books, how to use our books to find information, and how to share our books with others.
My students will be using these great browser-friendly bookshelves to help them easily find the book they are looking for every time. I have huge classroom library with old metal shelves and it is so difficult for students to browse through the books, not to mention keep it organized. I have used book boxes in the past, but I recently was observing in another classroom and saw the students using these great bookshelves and it was so easy for them to thumb through and find what they needed. I knew that my students would benefit from these!
This project will help my students by making the book selection process so much clearer and organized.
Students need that routine and having a well organized classroom library is a big part of that.
