The water bottles are of good quality and have ample space to put stickers (this is very important to students). Every student in my class has a job--it's part of our classroom economy (they all have jobs and they all get paid and they all pay rent for their chairs). They had been asking me about it for weeks--when will they order it? When will it get here?? When the boxes arrived, they begged to come take a look before our official knitting club time, so they could see and feel the new yarn right away. They immediately started claiming their favorite colors for their dream projects. One wanted to make a pink-and-blue-striped baby blanket, while another chose a blue-green that looked just like Stitch, her favorite character. While there was no way we could finish these large projects before the end of the school year--even with our fabulous chunky yarn and needles--I allowed students with a specific plan to take home multiple skeins of a color so they could continue their work over the summer.\r\n\r\nThis year, we are starting with our knitting closet well stocked with supplies! A whole new crew of fifth graders is already asking me when we will start meeting, as they can't wait to dive into the beautiful yarn, of which we still have plenty. Each student is assigned a number which correlates to a storage bag and headphones. Students are taught how to care for their headphones by wrapping cords around and place them into the bag. Bags are stored in containers for each table.
