My students have a passion for school and for our classroom community. My students come from a high poverty background. The family make-up of my students range from living in a single parent household with 5 other brothers and sisters, to living with grandma, grandpa, uncles and aunts, cousins and other extended family. They attend a school that has close to 100% free and/or reduced lunch rate and is located in a lower income area of town. Despite the challenges that many of my students face at home, they come to school excited to learn. My students love the community that we have worked hard to create in our classroom throughout this school year. Our school is large, 700 students preK-5. Our classroom is one of three dual immersion Spanish/English kindergarten groups. The goal is that students will finish at our school being at or above grade level in both English and Spanish.
