Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergartners are second language learners, and at the same time, they are actively learning and expanding their native Spanish language. They are learning to learn in school and in life.
Despite the pandemic, my little ones are exploring, growing, and expanding in so many ways every day!
They work hard to learn and make friends via Zoom this year. Their parents are a crucial part of this learning these days, and I so appreciate them!
The magic of their Kindergarten energy, even virtually, is contagious! It is a joy to work with them and their families!
My Project
I did a survey of my students' families asking them what they would find most helpful for their children as they shelter in place in their apartments. Art supplies, coloring books, play dough, and books for reading at home were enthusiastically offered up and supported by the group.
With parks closed, the rainy season coming, and my students oftentimes stuck within the four walls of a small space, having access to supplies that boost their creativity, inspire their curiosity, and encourage learning will benefit them and their families greatly!
My students get excited and joyful so easily! They are so resilient! Having some extra joy during these hard times will surely ease some strain for them and their families!
