Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing students who work to try to overcome their educational barriers. They are students of a Title I school where test scores have been historically low and where 100% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Their disadvantages are that they may come from a family where no one had the opportunity to go to college or that they (or the school) do not have the finances to give them the opportunities from students from more affluent districts. Other than that, they are fun, inspirational, respectful, goal-oriented, and just like any other teen in the nation looking for a brighter future.

My Project

NBPTS was the best professional developments I've ever experienced in my life because I was learning, critiquing, and evolving from my own teaching. I went through a 1.5 year grueling process ten years ago and thankfully passed but it is a credential I must renew every 10 years.

My district is not giving me any financial incentives nor are they assisting me with any payments.

Other school districts like LAUSD provide a 14% raise. I am committed to my school and district, regardless, but would like to procure funds to help me pay the fees.

My desire is to remain an excellent teacher in the classroom and to always be at the top of my game regarding self-assessment and areas of improvement. Receiving this renewal will help me refresh in these areas.
