My school is located in a large city in California. We are categorized as a low-performing, low-income school. However, in the past 7 years I've been at this school, we have won the National Award for Urban Schools in the 2008-2009 school year. Teachers tutor before and after school for free. Many teachers even fundraise privately for their school needs. My students are a mix of colors though the majority (about 60%) are Latino and about 35% are African American. Vietnamese, Filipino, and Caucasian students make up the remaining 5 percent of the student population. I absolutely love teaching and hope to continue to inspire students to be the best person they can be.
