This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

MS is a Title I school in Nevada. We serve a student population of approximately 650 students. Ninety percent of our students are comprised of underrepresented populations and 100% of our students are identified as coming from low-income households, foster care, or students facing homelessness.

The SMS vision is that every golden bear believes in their POWER (Perseverance, Ownership, Work Ethic, Engagement, Respect).

Our district has adopted a new science curriculum, and we use our laptops for almost every class period. The problem with this is that the computer lose battery power very quickly. I would really like to have this portable power tower set up in my classroom so that students can plug their computers in and be able to keep working. Right now, if a battery dies on a laptop, the computer needs to be put back in the laptop cart to charge for at least 30 minutes before it can be used again. This interrupts the learning of that student since he or she can't finish their assignment. I am also the volleyball coach at my school and my students need kneepads to play.
