Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I think we adults forget how much effort learning to read requires. It has become automatic and second nature to us. For my first graders, learning to read demands a LOT of practice and concentration. Hands-on activities and materials make this practice more fun, efficient, and productive.

I'm most excited to see my budding readers use the sound tiles and phonics kits to build words.

The more practice students receive with these necessary skills, the better they become at both decoding and spelling words. This is one of our main goals in first grade!

I'm also requesting sand trays for my students to use while practicing letter formation and sounds. Tactile, kinesthetic, and visual modalities are all addressed while students receive this type of hands-on practice. I hope you will help me give my little learners the very best first-grade experience.
