This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first-year teacher, I have yet to meet the students I will be teaching and learning with throughout this next year. I hope to build a classroom where students feel they are challenged and provided opportunities to advocate for their ideas and needs.

I will be teaching at a school where students are put first and their is a deliberate focus on community.

Although the school has had a tumultuous history, it has continued to improve both the community and services provided to students. Every year the school has continued to build on its previous successes and is fighting to become one of the best schools in Boston based on the belief that students come first. My students are young and eager to learn in space that builds their self-reflection and knowledge as readers and writers. They seek out chances to be in a safe place that both challenges and supports them on their education journey. They hail from all different neighborhoods with the desire to be successful students.

My Project

I'm extremely excited to begin my first year of teaching with my future students! The hardest part about getting them started is making sure our classroom has the materials (binders and notebooks) necessary for them to take notes, stay organized and be able to access the lesson. The projector is essential in the classroom to help student see and engage with the day's lessons. I am able to highlight different resources and media for the whole class. I'm also able to project and highlight student work so that students can revise and study their previous misconceptions and successes.

These donations will dramatically include the productivity within my classroom and my student's ability to engage with work and not the question of whether they will be able to afford materials.
