Healthy Yoga Fun!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have grown up in an inner-city; many of these children face poverty, violence, and obscenities of life on a daily basis that are well beyond what most of us could imagine. Despite all of this, they come to school ready to expand their minds and continue to explore. My students continue to be hopeful and strive for their very best even though they have had a difficult home environment and living situation.

While teaching children about yoga deep breathing, stretching, and strengthening exercises, they learn social-emotional learning strategies to start their day out right.

With things like new t-shirts, water bottles, Lysol wipes to clean their mats, and healthy snacks, my students will be able to keep on track for a positive start to their school day with the yoga club. We will be able to have a yoga club full of healthy and happy students with these materials. Students will also learn responsibility and hygiene. The students will be proud to wear their new t-shirts and use their water bottles throughout the day to help them stay healthy! Healthy students mean better attendance!
