Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most loving students you ever will meet. We are a Title I school located in a small, close-knit community. Our students face many hardships but that doesn't stop them from trying to be the best they can be. What excites me about teaching at my school is that our students love learning and look forward to coming to this safe and happy place every day, despite what challenges they face outside of school. I admire their eagerness and positive attitudes and want to give them as many tools to be successful both academically, emotionally, and physically.

My Project

After running, jumping, climbing and hopping on the playground, I can hear the roar of their tummies just as we are about to end our school day. I work in a low-income neighborhood. When my students get home, there are no healthy snacks for them to eat until mom comes home to prepare dinner.

I would like to give my students a healthy snack before they leave school.

This project will allow me to purchase a variety of snacks that would give my kiddos an energy boost that will sustain them until an adult gets home to prepare a nutritious meal to eat.

Donations to this project will improve my students' ability to

concentrate on their homework assignments, stop the hunger pangs and provide increased energy to concentrate on their homework activity.

By providing a good healthy snack at the end of the day, it not only ensures my kids stay full, but it also helps them learn healthy eating habits like eating appropriate amounts and only when they're hungry.
