My Students

Our students are part of an innovative approach to school. Currently, we are in the second year of our school opening, and in this time we have seen powerful results! We believe that all young people have the potential to become lifelong changemakers who realize their unique vision — rooted in their identity, knowledge, and skills — to create equity in their own lives and in the community, leading to a healthier, more joyful world. Through love and rigor, our approach to redesigning school has put the students at the center of their learning in order to lift them up to their highest potential. With this, our students are challenged to be independent and critical thinkers, while also developing their sense of strong character. I cannot say enough good things about our learning community, and I know we are shifting students' academic identity and proficiency!

My Project

We believe that every student should be entitled to a healthy and robust physical education program. One that promotes an active lifestyle and supports movement on a daily basis. This semester we are hoping to launch a new PE program that will allow this to happen with our students. Our teachers will step up to be the PE teachers, but we are currently in need of PE materials. That is why we are asking for your support!

Through the development of a new PE program, Middle School teachers will lead physical activities that promote movement, team unity and introduces students to new and different physical activities.

Since we do not have a gym we are forced to workout on the asphalt, which is a playground by day and a parking lot by night. We are excited about the possibility of getting these yoga mats as a way for students to build flexibility and strength comfortably on the ground. Please help us make this happen! We also need stopwatches to help students monitor their times.
