Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning as I walk onto the blacktop to pick up my first graders, I am greeted with hugs and "I missed you,” even if I saw them yesterday. They come to school with smiles on their faces the majority of days, and some days, their home lives show on their faces. I want to ensure that they have the best educational experience I can give them during their time with me.

My students are joyful, curious, and their hardships do not define them.

I work in a Title I-funded school in California where 97% of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and backpacks full of food to take home over the weekend. My students still come to school ready to learn and take on the world!

My Project

This year has been a tough year with COVID. The students are on and off for quarantine and teachers and students are under a lot of stress. Worrying about the air in our classrooms should be the least of our worries.

I created this project for an air purifier for my classroom to provide some sense of relief during this pandemic.

The air purifier and the filters will help keep my students and others healthy. The air purifier will filter particles and germs out of the air that could get my students sick. This is one important step in stopping the spread of COVID.

For this project I have also asked for kid sized surgical masks to protect them as well.
