This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyday in my classroom, my students ask if they get to use their iPads. They love the lessons I create for them, to view and listen to at their own learning pace, and are able to replay the parts they need. It creates student centered learning, which is my goal for my students everyday.

My students are special ed students, with learning disabilities in various forms.

My students also have various minor physical disabilities. However, my students are eager to learn, and are very motivated to do their very best. They all have the goal of passing all of their classes each six weeks, and passing their standardized test at the end of the year. Our school creates a positive learning environment for our students. Our school goal is for student centered learning, as much as possible. As teachers, we are facilitators of learning, and guide the students through their learning. The best part of this, is that our school is 100% poverty and 100% minority. However, we have high expectations, and our students work very hard to achieve their goals.

My Project

My classroom has a classroom set of iPads. I love this, because it allows me to use so many different applications, on the iPads, to promote learning in my room. Everyday, we do a bell ringer with pencil and paper. We will then usually do something in our interactive journal. We will then use our iPads. I have created lessons, both visual and audio, for my students to view on the concept we are covering. This allows my students to view and listen at their own pace. My students are all at different learning levels, and this allows them to learn at their own pace. The only issue I have, is that many of my students do not have their own headphones to use with the iPads. The other issue is that my school did not provide headphones with the iPads. So, I have gathered a few sets of headphones for students to use; however, they are not good quality, and it isn't very sanitary for them to share.

I would like to have these headphones for my classroom, in order for each individual student to have their own pair, that fits them and is comfortable.

I will assign a set of headphones to each student, and keep each set in a baggy, with the student's name, for safety and storage on a daily basis. This will allow each student to get the most our of their learning, with the iPads, in the classroom. My students will not have to be stressed over not having their own headphones, each day, in class.
