Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our student population represents countries from all around the world. My students are curious, inquisitive and hard working. They are so inspiring! In addition to learning the English language, my students actively engage in our Science English Language Learners curriculum. Many of my students support themselves financially and sustain part-time jobs in addition to school.
Many of my student have experienced hardships or witnessed violence yet they are committed to their education dream of successful careers in which they will contribute to making our world a better, safer and more peaceful place.
My Project
In the past we have been blessed with laptops to use in class. What we forgot to request was headphones so that students can work on individualized study programs. Having a class set of headphones would decrease inequity among students who have their own set and others who cannot afford to buy some.
On-line learning systems like Acellus.com, Kahn Academy as well as Google Classroom are enhanced more effective when students can listen and distinguish sounds and words more efficiently.
In the past we have seen state exam scores improved when students are able to study at their own pace. Headphones provide privacy and productivity while studying on their personal growing edge.
