Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child deserves to feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. For my students with special needs, something as simple as eating a snack during the school day can make a big difference in their comfort, mood, motivation, and ability to participate in classroom activities.

Many of my students experience sensory sensitivities that make certain food textures, smells, and tastes difficult to tolerate.

Foods that other children may enjoy can feel overwhelming to them, making it challenging to find snacks they are comfortable eating. Having access to familiar, preferred, and sensory-friendly snacks can help my students feel safe, satisfied, and ready to take on the day.

I am requesting snacks that offer a variety of textures and flavors so my students can have options that meet their individual sensory needs and preferences. These snacks will help provide opportunities for students to eat throughout the school day, maintain their energy, and stay engaged in learning. For some students, a preferred snack can also serve as a positive motivator during challenging tasks, transitions, and classroom activities.

Most importantly, this project is about more than food. It is about recognizing that every child has unique needs and ensuring that those needs do not become a barrier to learning. When students are comfortable, their bodies are nourished, and their individual preferences are respected, they are better able to focus, participate, build confidence, and enjoy their school experience.

With your support, we can create a classroom environment where students feel cared for, understood, and encouraged to succeed. Every snack is an opportunity to support a child's well-being, celebrate their individuality, and help make the school day a happier and more positive experience.
