My students are energetic and creative young adults. They are inquisitive and confident in verbalizing their thoughts.
My students are hyper-aware that they are on the cusp of adulthood and the responsibilities that go along with that label.
As a result, it is my job as an educator to give them as much information as I possibly can to help them to begin making decisions about their educational career for high school and beyond.
Many of my students have voiced an interest in STEM careers as well as careers that will help them serve their communities. They are exploring higher education opportunities and deciding which will be the best fit for them - university, technical, or vocational. We, both my students and I, are excited to see what the future holds for them.
My Project
As we explore basic chemical reactions and begin to understand chemistry we need the proper laboratory tools. When my project is fully funded, my students and I can work together in a lab that is safer and more modern to what we have had access to in the past.
By providing my students with the tools of scientists they can begin to see themselves as potential future scientists.
It is often stated that we should 'dress for the job we want, not the one we have'. By giving my students the proper eyewear, gloves, and tools they will have the opportunity to 'do it like a scientist'.
