This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is self-contained, meaning my students are with me all day! Due to their disabilities, being in the same room with the same staff provides them with a structured and routine-based environment they can thrive in. The lessons we work on focus on functional academics, life, and vocational skills - anything to help them be more independent when they leave us!

With the resources in this project, we will be decorating bookmarks, notebooks, and cards we can share with families, other students, and the rest of the school.

For the holiday season, I bought enough blank cards for all school staff along with peppermint candies. We fished up some old rubber stamps from a closet and got to work! Not only was the staff thrilled, but my kiddos had a blast stamping away all the cards. The resources listed here will allow us to create more things we can share while learning skills that can be applied when they leave the school system.

We have enough rubber stamps for the moment, but a new set of stamp pads and a stamp cleaner is necessary. The washi tape will be to add some extra fun to our projects! All the blank cards, notebooks, and bookmarks will be our stamping canvas. Lastly, the mounting tape will help staff display instructions on the wall for the stamping sessions as well as other visuals around the classroom.
