My Project

Dear Donors,

My name is Susan W and I am a dedicated occupational therapist at multiple public schools inside of Baltimore City (including Dorothy I Height Elementary School).

I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support our students in rebuilding their handwriting skills after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 school closures. The pandemic has brought about unprecedented disruptions to education, and our students have faced unique struggles during this time. One area that has been significantly impacted is handwriting. With the transition to virtual learning and the reduced emphasis on traditional writing tools, many students now find themselves in need of extra support to regain and refine their handwriting abilities.

I am seeking your assistance to provide essential handwriting supplies that will enable our students to overcome these challenges and thrive in their academic pursuits. The tools I have identified, including various adapted paper (including Channie’s Practice Handwriting & Printing Paper), sensory specific writing utensils (including Scentco Mythical Smencils) as well as writing utensils for my youngest student (including Washable Shimmer & Regular Dot Markers), are specifically designed to enhance fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and overall handwriting proficiency.

These supplies will not only serve as practical tools but also as symbols of a renewed focus on foundational skills. By reintroducing handwriting into our curriculum, we aim to promote cognitive development, boost confidence, and foster a sense of normalcy as we navigate the post-COVID educational landscape. Your generous contribution will directly impact the lives of our students, helping them rebuild and strengthen their handwriting skills. The ripple effect of improved handwriting extends beyond the classroom, influencing their academic success and self-esteem.
