My Project

My students are Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in preschool through 5th grade who thrive when learning is hands-on, visual, and language-rich. To support their growth, I am seeking materials that bring learning to life through engaging, thematic experiences. These lessons align with our Deaf Education curriculum designed to build early literacy skills.

Our classroom uses themed units to build vocabulary, language concepts, and background knowledge that many of our students may not yet have due to limited incidental access to spoken language.

With your help, we can provide interactive and meaningful learning centered around real-world themes like riding the school bus, visiting the doctor or dentist, tea parties, farms, bees, and animal life cycles.

The resources in this project will allow us to act out stories, role play real-life scenarios, explore the natural world, and build foundational language skills. Whether we’re pretending to go to the dentist, learning how bees make honey, or exploring how animals grow and change, your donation helps us create immersive lessons that are accessible and exciting for young Deaf learners.

Why This Matters:

For Deaf students, language and experience go hand-in-hand. The materials in this project will help students build connections between signs, English words, and the world around them—boosting comprehension, confidence, and communication.
