My Project

This summer, our Deaf Education students will participate in a language-rich, hands-on learning experience designed to keep literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills growing during the summer months.

Our older elementary students (grades 3–5) will read Hatchet while participating in exciting survival-themed STEM activities inspired by the novel.

Students will design solar ovens, build water rockets, complete egg drop engineering challenges, and explore real-world problem solving through collaborative, experiential learning. The TPT gift card included in this project will be used to purchase a Hatchet novel study guide and engaging math practice resources to help reinforce reading comprehension, vocabulary, problem solving, and academic skills throughout ESY.

Our younger students (PreK–2) will engage in bubble science investigations that promote early language development, social interaction, sensory exploration, and scientific thinking. Through giant bubbles, bubble wands, and hands-on experiments, students will build vocabulary, make predictions, compare results, and practice communication skills in a fun and engaging environment.

As Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, our learners benefit greatly from visual, interactive instruction that supports language access and meaningful peer interaction. These materials will help create a summer program filled with curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and joyful learning experiences.
