My Project

My first grade students are curious, energetic, and love learning through hands on experiences. They come to school each day excited to grow as readers and writers, and they thrive when lessons are engaging, interactive, and meaningful. Many of my students are currently working hard to strengthen foundational reading skills such as phonemic awareness, decoding, and word recognition. I love watching their confidence grow as they begin to connect sounds, letters, and words together independently.

The magnetic letter tiles and trays will provide students with hands on opportunities to build, manipulate, and read words during small group instruction and literacy centers.

These materials will support explicit phonics instruction aligned with the Science of Reading and help students practice decoding and encoding skills in an engaging way. The additional phonics manipulatives will allow students to actively participate in word work activities while strengthening their understanding of letter sounds, spelling patterns, and high frequency words.

The book The Very Special Heart Words will help students better understand heart words and support orthographic mapping through meaningful read aloud experiences. The colorful fly swatters will be used during interactive literacy games to increase student engagement while practicing phonics skills, sight words, and letter recognition.

These resources will help create a classroom environment where students feel excited, supported, and confident as they continue their journey toward becoming successful readers.
