My Students

Kindergarten math should be fun. It should be hands on. Children learn best when they can manipulate the materials. I want math to be exciting. I want them to enjoy learning. These math materials will be incredibly useful in teaching some basic math concepts such as counting, sorting and patterning.

My class is made up of a diverse background of learners.

Most of them come from hardworking, loving families that just don't have the resources to help their children learn. They are high energy children who love school. Many of them struggle with learning. I wish I could afford to buy them so many more fun classroom materials because they get so excited about learning. These math materials will be so helpful.

My Project

I am required to teach the district math curriculum. It is mostly teacher directed with little hands on activities. For about twenty minutes each day they are given time to explore math materials. I am limited as to what I can give them due to lack of funding and resources. These materials would be used to teach many of the concepts that need to be taught. The learning would be child centered and fun.

My students need hands on math materials to help them learn one to one correspondence, counting, sorting and patterning.

The impact of these materials may seem small to you, but they would be great to the students. They would also be used for years to come. Thank you for you kindness and generosity!!
