The students and I are fully enjoying the portable air conditioner! I have had fans in the past but they drown out the sound of my voice at times making learning a little more challenging. This air conditioner is quiet, effective, and easy to use - which makes it such a wonderful tool! \r\nWhen the students first saw it they all wanted to help unpack it and and put the pieces together - they couldn't wait to see it work! They understand how important and special this is to our room and help take good care of it. \r\nWe even had a 90 degree day here in October and I was able to turn this tool on and help cool the room down after a very hot weekend. As an older teacher I truly appreciate the comfort this gift brings as well. With this gift the students are able to focus more, relax, and really take in their learning environment. \r\nI wish I could do it all but very much aware I can't. The one we used in the past was good but fraying and had definitely been around awhile. This carpet gave us automatics spots on leaves and a fresh start to the year. The students are so excited and absolutely love both spaces. \r\nThe larger rug is our \"Morning Meeting\" space where we come together as a community to talk about the day and play games. We sit here for story time and also for math. Having a new, fresh space to come together has been a game changer. \r\nThe smaller rug is on our \"Calming Center\". Students are able to visit this space when they need a moment to reset. Having a soft, colorful, and inviting rug helps the students to feel more at calm. \r\nThese two new additions to the room will be enjoyed for many more years to come. They've also loved the bubbles, exploring breath, different solution ratios, and different ways to move the bubbles without popping them.\r\n\r\nThe wobble cushions and headphones have been especially supportive for students with high levels of sensory support needs, and have allowed these students to engage more consistently and authentically in our STEAM exploration work. It has been excellent to have a classroom set of cabasas. We are able to explore different textures, sounds, different body sensations, and more using 1 cabasa per student. They have also shown to be quite regulating to students who like sensory input.\r\n\r\nThere are materials we will save for next year (headphones, drum pads, keyboards), and I know this group of enthusiastic students will have continued success with such a great variety of high-quality materials to engage in music, science, and math concepts! \r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and continued care for our students.
