I have students exhibiting reading interferences such as Dyslexia. My school is a Title l school, where 99% of the students are on free or reduced-price lunch. Dyslexia is a reading disorder manifested by a difficulty in learning to read, write, or spell, despite conventional instruction, and adequate intelligence.
I am committed to providing my students with the appropriate instruction in order for them to be successful.
Since teaching to Dyslexia is fairly new, we do not have a lot of material to use with the students exhibiting Dyslexia. The students with Dyslexia have to use special materials in order for them to become great readers. They need multi-sensory resources.
The resources that I need in order to effectively work with my dyslexic students include Kinetic Sensory Sand, alphabet stamps, Stamp and Trace Sight Words, and Simple Sentence Building Cards. These are Research-Based Programs which have proven to help the students out significantly and their reading level improved. It is very important for the students to become efficient readers, which is my goal as an educator. I want my children to become successful.
My Project
Having the right material to use with students who have Dyslexia or exhibit characteristics of Dyslexia will have a significant impact on their ability to read and my goal is for all of my students to become great readers. These are the students who will become our future doctors, lawyers, and etc.
It is extremely important for us reach out to them and teach the students according to their learning styles because all students are capable of learning, but we need to work with them according to their learning style.
Providing my students with these materials will allow them to engage in multisensory learning. These multisensory materials will benefit all students, not just the students with characteristics of Dyslexia.
Having the right kind of material will help me tremendously and I know we will see great results because of people like you supporting us.
