My Project

Every child deserves a classroom where they feel safe, excited, and inspired to learn. This year, my first and second-grade students will enter our woodland-themed learning lodge, a classroom designed to build confident, independent readers through engaging, hands-on literacy experiences.

Reading and writing center supplies give students work to do independently while I provide targeted small-group instruction.

The requested supplies will enable students to manipulate sounds, build words, practice reading, and strengthen foundational literacy skills through active learning rather than worksheets alone.

Our Learning Lodge reading centers will include activities such as:

* Individualized book bins for each student to store their "just right" books

* Individualized magnetic whiteboards for word work and word building

* Classroom timers for students to monitor and track their own fluency growth

*Phonics games (kids learn best through play!) and spinners

* Reading phone buddies to read to each other during partner practice

* Label maker to clearly mark tools and supplies individually for each student. This offers students an opportunity to practice being responsible for their own supplies

* Book rings and Velcro dots give students options for quick flip reading, sentence strip reading, and file folder games

* Highlighters and sentence strips are the tools we use to take what we've learned in reading to develop writing skills

These materials will be used every day throughout the school year, benefiting every student who walks through our classroom doors. Because many of our supplies are reusable, they will continue supporting future classes for years to come.

Your generosity will help transform our classroom into a place where children are excited to learn and confident in their abilities. Every donated item helps create opportunities for students to become stronger readers while building independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
