Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This coming school year will be my third year teaching at a Title I school in northwest Arkansas. Most of my students are English Language Learners, speaking primarily Spanish or Marshallese. My students come to me with a wide range of abilities, cultures and life experiences.
I want my students to know that they are safe, loved, encouraged and included in our classroom regardless of where they come from.
In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences. They all work extremely hard each and every day. My kindergartners are so full of excitement and have a love of learning! It is so rewarding to see how much they grow in just one school year.
My Project
Math rotations are a daily activity in my classroom. Using the Math Exchanges model in Math, students rotate throughout stations for hands on practice. These items allow me to give my students more hands on opportunities to practice Math skills.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to focus more on the Math skill while also staying engaged in their learning. This will give students a chance to be hands on, increase academic talk with peers and to also practice fine motor skills.
