Hamlet Graphic Novel

My students need 40 copies of the graphic novel version of "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare and several SparkNotes literature guides for this play.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when you were little and you read comic books with a flashlight under your home-made tent? Readers of all ages still love the thrill and visual excitement of graphic novels.

My students are high-poverty, low-functioning, at-risk students.

Many of them come from low-income families and have struggling literacy skills because of their lack of ability to buy resources. Along with literacy issues, many of them have special needs, in which a graphic novel could help them learn tremendously.

My Project

Students who struggle with literacy often need other methods to help them learn. Color, art, visual text, and organized story books will keep them engaged and confident while they are reading. With this graphic novel book of Hamlet, my students will be able to read out loud during class, even performing the script physically, building speaking skills and confidence in attitude before they enter college.

After so many drastic budget-cuts to our public school system, teachers are left to fend for themselves and unfortunately, students suffer the most.

Because of our school's lack of ability to provide new books each year, students drop out from lack of motivation and engagement in the classroom. With your generous donation, my students will improve their classroom attendance, therefore improving the school's graduation rate. These are college-level skills that students can gain from Shakespeare.
