My Project

DMS is a 6th-8th grade school with approximately 600 students. We largely serve underrepresented communities. 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and many are facing homelessness. We have a racial minority enrollment rate of 74%, with Hispanic students making up the greatest portion of that. DMS is serving this community in every way that we can with multiple programs such as GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) and AVID (a college readiness program) as well as with self-contained classes for students with intellectual and/or emotional disabilities.

We want our students to know that we care.

When we have bulletin boards in the main hallway that haven't been changed in years, it communicates to the kids that the teachers and staff don't care. We want our kids to know that we care and want them there! Unfortunately, the costs for bulletin board materials add up quickly, and the school can't afford to purchase these materials. Please help us show our students how much we care!
