My Students

Students care deeply about our school, our community, and our city. My students demonstrate a desire to be active members of the community. You can see our students all over New Orleans from marching in Mardi Gras parades to performing at Jazzfest, to attending community forums and events.

My students are interested in creating positive change in our city.

This year I had students attend a BYP event focused on supporting women of color who were victims of domestic violence, a conference on trauma-informed schools, a march to reduce gun violence and many more. My students are passionate about being agents of social change and community empowerment.

My Project

The 21-22 school year has been one of growth and challenges. Help my students process the events of the past few years with the gift of a guided healing journal. These journals were created specifically for Black men to address trauma and facilitate reflection and healing. Each page contains a prompt with space for written reflection and action steps.

Help me help my students build the toolkit they need to stay mentally healthy during a challenging time.

Depression rates for teens have sky rocketed during the pandemic. Our kids have never needed healthy ways to reflect, grow, and heal than they do now.
