G.T. Environmental and Climate Experiment STEM Day

Help me give my students an outside STEM environmental day. They will compare activities with inside conditions to outside conditions.

My Project

The items requested allow for outside environment STEM days. We are going to compare the outside environment in relation to different variables that will exist with the experiments. These activities are requested to determine if they will work by combining outside variables such as water, dirt, or even wind.

We will need egg drop kit to determine if it works in water or dirt.

The Balloon starter kit will be used on a windy and non-windy days, making comparisons. The paper circuits will be created during an indoor vs. outdoor activity. The final activity will be using hydraulics to compare different windy days vs. non-windy days with goals of completing a task using the hydraulics. These STEM activities are very hands-on and kid friendly. We are examining the effects of the environment using these experiments.

The goal for this project will be to compare variables within these experiments and determine which environmental factor created impacted change. Then have a Socratic Seminar relating impacts to environments from around the world and universe. Students will be able to complete standards of dialogue and discussion standards after completing experiments.

These students are unique in their higher level abilities to learn. In the Gifted and Talented classroom, this is their opportunity to push their learning to the next level. These experiments and materials will allow for that opportunity. These experiments will involve the environment and outside for the last weeks of school.
