My Project

I am a 6th grade science teacher and expanded our Kids Grow Green Program to my first grade buddy classroom. First graders in my buddy classroom have been learning how to grow fresh healthy greens in an exciting, innovative and sustainable way. Students took such great care of their seedlings and then watched their seedlings grow into lettuce right in front of them! This hands on experience was super exciting for students. One 1st grade gardener even shared it was his favorite part of school.

Our 1st grade "gardeners" learned how to prepare and grow their seedlings, transfer their seedlings to a classroom hydroponics system and finish their first harvest of fresh lettuce in collaborative, innovative and exciting way!

This project fully funded will provide gardening books to each student in my first grade buddy classroom celebrating their amazing work with their first harvest. Not only did they grow fresh lettuce right inside the classroom but with this project fully funded they will now grow their very own garden library.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
