My students are curious, outgoing and love to do creative and hands on work. Some of their favorite activities are debates, partner work, class discussions and projects. They love to asks great questions and learn as much as they can. My students also like to be outside in nature. One of our most recent accomplishments was going on a 7 miles hike at Silver Falls State Park. They enjoyed every minute of it and were able to persevere though the challenge.
This novel will give my students a greater understanding and a first hand perspective on the Civil Rights movement. We will be learning about the Civil War and Civil Rights movement. This book will give my students a first hand account of happened during the Civil Rights movement. We will use this book as a launching pad to talk about Civil Rights locally in Oregon. Having this set of book will give the students the opportunity to read the novel for homework and therefore have richer class discussions on the novel. We can delve deeper into the text with this set of novels.
