This novel will give my students a greater understanding and a first hand perspective on the Civil Rights movement. We will be learning about the Civil War and Civil Rights movement. This book will give my students a first hand account of happened during the Civil Rights movement. We will use this book as a launching pad to talk about Civil Rights locally in Oregon. Having this set of book will give the students the opportunity to read the novel for homework and therefore have richer class discussions on the novel. We can delve deeper into the text with this set of novels.

About my class
