My Students

My students are rural kids who don't often benefit from the advantages of living close to high-tech industries. It is a constant battle to get funding that support STEM projects that provide these kids with opportunities to know if they have the interest to be truly involved in science, technology, engineering, or math.

Being at home from COVID has been hard.

In math, we learn about statistics, arithmetic and geometric functions. Though there are some tools available online, these kids often fall short not having the tools we have in class to do their work and learn the needed concepts.

My Project

Graphing calculators (Ti-84s) are used in our math classes to study statistics, arithmetic and geometric sequences, as well as predicting values using lines of regression.

Students stuck at home due to COVID need to have the tools to keep up on their coursework, which in this case includes the calculators we use in class.

This project would provide enough calculators that some can be loaned to students who cannot be in class. They need access to graphing calculators like the ones we use in class in order to keep up with classwork.
